Welcome to your very first step into the world of martial arts! In this tutorial, we are breaking down Basic Form 1 (Kibon Il Jang / Kicho Hyeong Il Bu). Before you can master the Taegeuk forms, you have to build a rock-solid foundation, and that starts right here. 🥋 About Basic Form 1 Basic Form 1 is the starting line for every new white belt. While the movements are simple, the purpose behind them is profound. This form is designed to introduce you to the mechanics of turning, shifting your weight, and moving in an "I-shape" pattern. More importantly, this is where we lay the groundwork for the core values of Taekwondo. As you practice this form, you are not just learning to block and punch—you are building the discipline, respect, and self-control that will carry you through your entire journey. 🔑 Key Techniques to Focus On • Stances: Forward Stance (Ap Kubi). Focus on bending that front knee and keeping your back leg locked straight in your forward stances! • Blocks: Low Block (Arae Makki). Make sure you are chambering your block high up by your opposite shoulder before snapping it down to protect your leg. • Strikes: Middle Punch (Momtong Jireugi). Aim precisely for the solar plexus, keep your wrists straight, and always pull your non-punching hand sharply back to your belt. • Focus (Siseon): Always look first before you turn! Developing this habit now builds the confidence and perseverance you will need for advanced forms. Every Black Belt started exactly where you are right now. Take your time, focus on the details, and don't rush. Bookmark this video, practice a little bit every day, and watch your technique grow stronger.
