From her Creative Scotland supported album 'Painted Light' (October 2026), ‘Afterwards’ is a song that searches for answers to the ephemeral nature of our feelings, in particular, love. “Where does love reside, where does it go when it dies?” How do we find solace in a time of grief when we are stuck trying to understand how the intensity of a love that has deeply changed us can seemingly, and sometimes suddenly disappear.
Recorded Live at Meow Studios, Edinburgh.

Lyrics
Afterwards, the autumn shows, we trade the light for scarves and coats
After as, the leaves they part, to lie as still as my beating heart
I cannot stay, but I will not go
Where it goes
Where does love reside?
Where does it go when it dies?
Afterwards, the books, the boats, the bending boughs of city smoke
I leave to lie, but I cannot cry, for you, for you
Where it goes
Where does love reside?
Where does it go when it dies?
Afterwards, we’re never the same
I may as well shoulder the blame
Afterwards, for it to leave
That which had so changed in me
Oh, to love what you must leave alone
I realise it’s the only kind of love, I’ve ever known
Released 2 October, 2026
