In 1927, one sentence ended an entire art form. "You ain't heard nothin' yet!" — and within three years silent cinema was gone, along with the careers of stars, orchestras and thousands of theatre musicians. What if movies had never learned to talk? In this alternate history we look at the real story of the talkies, who lost everything when sound arrived, and what a world of permanently silent cinema would look like... until the smartphone quietly brought it back.
