Fletchers Solicitors Client Story- Paula & Ben's Story

On an ordinary evening in February 2022, while cycling home from work, Ben was involved in a fatal head-on collision with a car on a country road near Crawley. Paula's first indication that something was wrong came from an automated Garmin alert on her phone. Just over an hour later, police arrived at her door to tell her that Ben had sadly died. With no CCTV and no independent witnesses, Paula spent years searching for answers about what had happened. Although criminal proceedings were not brought forward, Fletchers Solicitors pursued a civil claim which ultimately resulted in the defendant accepting 75% liability. In Paula’s words, this gave her the sense of justice and closure she desperately needed. Today, Paula speaks openly about rebuilding her life, changing her career, and using what happened to Ben to encourage greater road safety awareness, ensuring his memory continues to make a difference.
