Every US President's Children Explained

Every US president, one entry at a time, from Washington to the second Trump term, told through the children they raised, lost or never had. The film opens with three scenes: two Jersey cows on the White House lawn, a young man pulled back from a moving train by the brother of his father's assassin, and a son who finds his own father's stolen body inside a medical college. Each entry then begins with the number, the name and the head count. Along the way come the sorrows and the scandals. Sons are lost to drink, debt and fraud, daughters to fever and cholera, and there are train wrecks, a steamboat and a grave robbery. There are also quieter stories of stepchildren, adopted sons and nieces who ran the White House. The film asks one thing: which presidents had the most children, which had none, and what became of them all? It treats recent families evenly and by the public record, and it ends with the final tally and the record that still stands.
