One Thing Every US President Hated

Every US president had something he could not stand. For some it was a food, for some a habit, a rival, a rumour, or the job itself. This film goes through all of them in order, from George Washington to the second term of Donald Trump. Each entry opens with the number and the name, then names the one thing that man hated and tells the true story behind it. Washington dodged handshakes with a hat and a sword. Thomas Jefferson hated public speaking so much that presidents stopped delivering their messages to Congress aloud for 112 years. Andrew Jackson carried scars from a British officer's sword. Barack Obama would not eat beets. Where a story is only a legend, it is told as a legend, and the film stays even-handed toward all sides. Along the way it asks which dislikes shaped history, which were only quirks, and which two presidents, 45 men across 47 presidencies, shared the very same one.
