Bay of Bengal Depression: Landfall Near Odisha Coast, Heavy Rain Alert The low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a Depression and is moving west-northwestwards toward the Odisha–North Andhra coast. The system is expected to intensify further into a Deep Depression within the next 24 hours, with landfall likely between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur around the night of September 23 and early hours of September 24. South Odisha is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, while winds may reach around 65–75 kmph near the coast as the system approaches land. IMD has also warned of extremely heavy rainfall in Odisha on September 23 and 24.
