Perfect for relaxation, ambience, or virtual walking! Gibson Mill was built around 1800 by Abraham Gibson as one of the earliest water-powered cotton mills of the Industrial Revolution. Tucked in the wooded Hebden Valley at Hardcastle Crags, it used the river to drive a large water wheel and produced cotton cloth until the 1890s, employing up to 21 workers. In the early 20th century it became a popular local entertainment venue with dances and teas. After falling into disuse, the National Trust acquired it in 1950. Today, this Grade II listed building showcases the area’s industrial heritage and renewable energy.
