The Dormition (Falling Asleep) of the Holy Virgin Mary – Orthodox Tradition According to the Orthodox Church, after the Ascension of Jesus Christ, the Holy Virgin Mary continued to live a life of prayer and service, strengthening the early Christians. When the time of her departure from this world came, the Archangel Gabriel announced that she would soon be with her Son. By God's miraculous power, the Apostles were gathered from different parts of the world to be at her bedside. Jesus Christ Himself came in glory with the angels and received the pure soul of His Mother. The Apostles carried her holy body in a solemn procession and laid it in a tomb in Gethsemane. Three days later, when the Apostle Thomas arrived and wished to see her one last time, the tomb was opened and found empty. The Orthodox Church teaches that Christ had taken His Mother bodily into heavenly glory, honoring her as the Mother of God. This feast is celebrated as the Dormition of the Theotokos, commemorating not only her peaceful death but also her entrance into eternal life with her Son. ኪዳነ ምህረት ነሓሴ ወረብ | ብመምህር ፍስሃ | Ethiopian & Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Kidane Mhret Nehasie Wereb የእመቤታችን ቅድስት ማርያም ዕረፍት (አጭር ታሪክ) ከጌታችን ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ዕርገት በኋላ፣ እመቤታችን ቅድስት ማርያም በጸሎት፣ በቅድስና እና በአገልግሎት ኖረች። የዕረፍቷ ጊዜ ሲቀርብ መልአኩ ቅዱስ ገብርኤል መጥቶ ከልጇ ከክርስቶስ ጋር እንደምትሆን አበሰራት። በተአምራትም ሐዋርያት ከየቦታው ተሰበሰቡ፣ ጌታችንም ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ከመላእክት ጋር መጥቶ ንጽሕት ነፍሷን በክብር ተቀበለ። ሐዋርያት ቅዱስ ሥጋዋን በክብር ተሸክመው በጌቴሴማኒ ቀበሯት። ከሦስት ቀን በኋላ ቅዱስ ቶማስ ሲመጣ የመጨረሻ ጊዜ ሊያያት ፈለገ፤ መቃብሩ ሲከፈት ግን ባዶ ሆኖ ተገኘ። ቤተ ክርስቲያን ክርስቶስ እመቤታችንን ከሥጋዋ ጋር ወደ ሰማያዊ ክብር እንዳወጣት ታምናለች። ስለዚህም ይህ በዓል የእመቤታችን ዕረፍት (ፍልሰታ) ተብሎ ይከበራል፤ ይህም ሞቷን ብቻ ሳይሆን ወደ ዘላለማዊ ክብር መሸጋገሯን ያስታውሳል። 🙏 May God bless you and your family. #ነሓሴ #ኪዳነምህረት #ወረብ #መምህርፍስሃ #OrthodoxZema #EthiopianOrthodox #EritreanOrthodox #OrthodoxTewahedo #GeezZema #OrthodoxMezmur #OrthodoxPrayer #HolyBible #JesusChrist #ChristianWorship #TewahedoChurch
