You may see too many new characters, read very slowly, have little time, or start with a big goal and give up after only a few days. In this episode, Zhang Yue and Li Yang talk about a simple learning method: reading up to 10 pages of Chinese every day. This episode is designed mainly for HSK 1–2 learners, with simple vocabulary, short sentences, and natural everyday Chinese. The goal is not to force yourself to read 10 pages from the first day. You can start with just 3 or 5 pages and slowly build a daily Chinese reading habit. 📚 In this episode, you will learn: 📖 Why read Chinese every day? Why is reading a little every day important? Why is consistency more important than reading a lot at once? 📗 What should HSK 1–2 learners read? How can you choose Chinese material at the right level? Why are simple graded readers useful for beginners? Why can familiar stories make Chinese reading easier? 🔍 What should you do with new Chinese characters? Do you need to check the dictionary every time? How can you guess a word from the sentences around it? Why don't you need to understand every character? ⏰ How can you build a daily reading habit? Choose a regular time for reading. Keep your Chinese book somewhere easy to see. On a busy day, even reading one page can help you keep the habit. 🌱 Start with 3 pages and slowly reach 10 Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Start with 3 or 5 pages if 10 pages feels difficult. Increase the number when reading becomes easier. 🧠 What happens when you read Chinese every day? Chinese characters become more familiar. Your reading speed can gradually improve. You become familiar with natural Chinese sentences. Your brain slowly gets better at understanding Chinese directly. 💡 HSK 1–2 Chinese Reading & Listening Practice You don't need to understand or remember everything the first time. Try to remember these simple ideas: ✓ Choose easy Chinese material at your level ✓ Don't stop for every new word ✓ Try to understand the main idea first ✓ Start with 3–5 pages if 10 pages is too much ✓ Even 1 page is useful on a busy day ✓ Learn only 3–5 useful new words from your reading ✓ Choose one sentence you like and read it aloud 🗣️ How to practice with this episode: ① Listen to the whole episode once without worrying about every word. ② Listen again and pay attention to the reading methods Zhang Yue and Li Yang discuss. ③ Find a simple Chinese story or graded reader at your level. ④ Start with 3 or 5 pages instead of forcing yourself to read 10 pages. ⑤ When you see a new word, try to guess its meaning before checking it. ⑥ Spend about 10–20 minutes reading Chinese every day. 🌿 Reading 10 pages a day is not a competition. If 10 pages feels difficult, start with 5. If 5 pages is still too much, start with 3. Even if you only read one page on a busy day, you still spent time with Chinese. When you see the same characters, words, and sentence patterns again and again, they gradually become familiar. Over time, reading Chinese can become easier, faster, and more natural. 💬 Today's two questions: 1️⃣ What is the maximum number of Chinese pages in the daily reading method discussed today? 2️⃣ What kind of Chinese books do we recommend for beginners? Both answers can be found in today's conversation. Write your answers in the comments. You can answer in simple Chinese. One or two short sentences are enough. We will read your comments and help guide and correct your Chinese. ❤️ If you enjoy simple and natural Chinese listening practice like this, keep learning with Learn Chinese Happily|开心学中文.
