Light, agile and possessing exceptional range, it became one of the most recognizable fighters of Japanese naval aviation. But the war changed. Experienced pilots were lost, increasingly capable enemy aircraft entered the battlefield, and the advantage the Zero once possessed slowly disappeared. By 1944 and 1945, some Zeros were also used in Tokkō missions from which their pilots were not expected to return. “The Last Wings” follows this journey through dark atmospheric Black Metal, from the fast and dangerous fighter of the early Pacific War to the bleak final flights of a conflict nearing its end. This song is not about glorifying death. It is about duty, loyalty, comradeship, fear, and the human cost hidden behind the aircraft and history. The blue sea remembers. The sky remembers. The young wings that never returned.
