In Psalm Forty-Seven the Sons of Korah command the people of God to engage in exuberant praise to the LORD, thanking Him for subduing the nations and establishing the inheritance of His covenant people. In Psalm Forty-Eight the Sons of Korah extol the greatness of the LORD and the beauty of Jerusalem. The LORD is seen to be actively protecting the city. The psalm may be a memorial for a real event. However, Jerusalem in this psalm appears to be idealised and we can consider it to be speaking of the congregation of God’s people through all ages.
