Robbe Prinzess RC boat - From Vintage Classic to Custom Glastron GT-150

ROBBE PRINZESS – VINTAGE CLASSIC, COMPLETELY REIMAGINED! 🚤 In this project, I took a classic Robbe Prinzess RC boat and gave this legendary vintage model a complete modern makeover inspired by the iconic Glastron GT-150. The Robbe Prinzess is a classic RC model from the 1980s and is closely associated with the Glastron GT-150 design, which became famous through the James Bond movie Live and Let Die. (YouTube) Instead of simply restoring the boat, I wanted to take it much further — combining the vintage character of the original model with modern RC technology and a huge amount of custom 3D-printed detail. 🔧 THE MAKEOVER The entire boat was extensively rebuilt and upgraded with custom-made components, including: • Custom-designed and 3D-printed parts • Modern brushless power system • TFL Mini Outboard • Flycolor 90A ESC • Rudder servo with gyro stabilization • Custom 3D-printed interior components • 3D-printed driver figures • One fully servo-controlled animatronic figure • Custom details and modifications throughout the boat 🖨️ 3D PRINTING A major part of this project was designing and manufacturing my own custom parts specifically for the boat. The main filaments used were: Extrudr ASA-CF – for strong, heat-resistant structural and exterior components. Princore PP-CF – used for lightweight, tough and functional custom parts. From the interior details to the figures and mechanical components, 3D printing allowed me to completely rethink and modernize this vintage model. 🤖 ANIMATRONIC DRIVER One of the highlights of the build is the custom 3D-printed driver figure. But this isn’t just a static figure. The driver is servo-controlled and fully animated, bringing the cockpit to life while the boat is operating. It’s a small detail, but it’s exactly the kind of detail that makes a custom RC model feel completely different from a standard kit. ⚡ MODERN PERFORMANCE The original vintage propulsion system has been replaced with a modern brushless setup, combined with a TFL Mini Outboard and a Flycolor 90A ESC. The steering system also received a modern upgrade with gyro stabilization on the rudder servo, helping keep the boat stable and controlled during operation. The result is a unique combination of vintage styling, modern RC technology and custom 3D printing. This is no longer just an old Robbe Prinzess.
