This video is about Chimney Top, on North Fork Mountain in the “Mountain State” of West Virginia. Chimney Top is on North Fork Mountain, a mountain ridge in the Potomac Highlands of the Allegheny Mountains in eastern West Virginia. The West Virginia Highlands are breathtaking any time of year, especially in the fall. Experts call North Fork Mountain Trail, one of, if not the best hike in West Virginia! Most of North Fork Mountain lies within Monongahela National Forest in Grant and Pendleton Counties. North Fork Mountain trail is 24 miles from end to end and travels almost the entire length of the spine of the mountain. We’re not hiking all North Fork Mountain Trail in this video. We’re accessing the trail at the northern terminus on Smoke Hole Rd, in Cabins, West Virginia, which is just outside Petersburg.
