The Rose of Camelot
In the towers of Camelot,
Where the silver banners fly,
There she walks beneath the roses,
With a kingdom in her eyes.
Guinevere, the crown is shining,
Golden in the morning flame,
Beside Arthur in the great hall,
All of Britain knows her name.
But the heart obeys no kingdom,
And no crown commands the soul.
Somewhere underneath the splendour,
There are truths no throne controls.
Guinevere, Rose of Camelot,
Underneath the English sky,
Love and duty stand before you,
Like two roads that divide.
Guinevere, the bells are calling,
While the candles slowly burn.
Somewhere between love and honour
Waits a road with no return.
Lancelot rides through the gateway,
Dust and sunlight on his shield,
Bravest knight among the bravest,
Never taught his heart to yield.
One brief glance across the chamber,
One small moment, nothing more,
Yet a whisper becomes thunder
Behind every castle door.
Every legend has its shadow,
Every summer meets the rain.
Even love can carry beauty,
Even love can carry pain.
Guinevere, Rose of Camelot,
Underneath the English sky,
Love and duty stand before you,
Like two roads that divide.
When the banners fall to silence,
When the Round Table is gone,
Who will judge the hearts that loved there
When another age has dawned?
Was she queen, or was she woman?
Was she captive to the crown?
Only stones of ancient Camelot
Know the tears that once fell down.
Guinevere! Rose of Camelot,
Hear the final kingdom call!
Arthur's crown and Lancelot's promise,
Love and honour, rise and fall.
Where the roses grow in silence,
Where the moonlight touches stone,
Guinevere walks through the legend…
And the legend carries on.
