In a significant step towards environmental restoration and sustainable community development, World Vision is engaging academic institutions to develop a comprehensive Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) module. This initiative aims to embed FMNR in Uganda’s educational curriculum, transforming classrooms into catalysts for generations of FMNR professionals. The journey toward this milestone began with a simple orientation and field exposure and has now culminated in the creation of a dedicated FMNR course curriculum worth 12 credits. This curriculum is designed for integration into academic and learning institutions across Uganda, accompanied by a robust assessment rubric that evaluates key competencies, including knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values.FMNR is a community-driven, low-cost land restoration practice that involves the systematic regrowth and management of trees and shrubs from felled tree stumps, sprouting root systems, seeds, or woody thickets. Recognised globally for its effectiveness, #FMNR has become a vital tool for transforming degraded landscapes and promoting sustainable land management.World Vision Uganda’s scaling efforts aim to restore over 2,000,000 hectares of degraded land by 2033, fostering a community-led FMNR movement across the country. #FMNR
