Vocal Strength Coach Reacts to The Warning - Enter Sandman | FIRST TIME

I went into The Warning’s 2013 version of “Enter Sandman” expecting to dislike it because, frankly, I’ve never liked the song. They changed my mind. And this version, recorded for the 30th anniversary of Metallica’s Black Album, pretty much cemented it. What I love is that The Warning didn’t just play the song well. They actually reinterpreted it. Dany changes the shape and sound of certain vowels, they repeat and emphasize parts differently, the arrangement adds new textures, and the entire mood of the song feels different. It’s unmistakably “Enter Sandman,” but somehow it also feels like a completely different song. That’s exactly what I want from a cover. Don’t just reproduce the original. Give me a reason to hear the song differently. And somehow The Warning managed to make me like a song I spent years not liking at all.
