Pirates First Winning Season since 2018 – Kevin Young joins Bucco Triple Play

On this edition of the Bucco Triple Play, join former Pirates third base coach Rich Donnelly, avid fan Don Sloan, and College World Series Champion Bill Phillips as they officially wrap up the Pirates’ 2026 season—the team’s first winning season since 2018—following their final series against the Tigers. The guys look back at the highs and lows of the season, discuss what the Pirates could look like next year, and share their hopes that some key members of the 2026 roster can remain in Pittsburgh. Former Pirate and current broadcaster Kevin Young joins the show to offer his thoughts on the Buccos’ 2026 campaign and the players who made the biggest impact. Kevin also reflects on the team’s pitching struggles and bullpen inconsistency, while the group looks ahead to the 2026 MLB Playoffs as postseason baseball gets underway. In Rich’s Treasure Chest, Rich shares more stories about the unforgettable characters he has met throughout his time in Major League Baseball. This time, he takes us back to stories about former player and manager Doug Rader—better known as “The Red Rooster.” Tune in to hear why he earned that nickname.
