Rebuilt Steam Locomotive: Waumbek #9 is back on Mt. Washington's Cog Railway - 8/2026

After a year long absence of steam operations Mt. Washington Cog Railway welcomed #9 back into operation in July. Their two steam engines needed repairs and the Waumbek was completed first. Originally built in 1908 by the Manchester Locomotive Works, the locomotive now sports a new boiler that allowed it to return to service. In this video we see it in action in August 2026 after its return. The Cog has now been operating steam on weekends and on this day we saw the 9AM departure heading up the mountain.
