You don’t need a huge platform, a perfect testimony, or a microphone to influence someone for Christ. Most of the time, influence happens in the ordinary moments when we simply choose to live what we believe.
This week, Meggan and Cortney sit down with Lynnette Sheppard, creator and host of Stand with Lynnette, to talk about what it really means to make Jesus Christ known through the way we live.
Lynnette shares how her own faith has been shaped by people who probably had no idea how much they were influencing her. We talk about finding courage when you’re afraid, the small daily habits that build strong faith, and why some of our most important influence will happen inside our own homes. We also get into motherhood and the sometimes-hard truth that we can teach, love, guide, and model faith for our children, but ultimately, their relationship with Jesus Christ has to become their own.
And for those of us sharing faith online? Lynnette reminds us to keep checking the why behind what we're doing. Because the goal was never to make ourselves known.
It was always to make Him known.
In this episode, we talk about:
Why bold faith doesn't mean you aren't afraid
The ordinary people who can quietly shape our faith for a lifetime
How prayer, scripture study, and small daily choices fortify our faith
What the mothers of the stripling warriors teach us about influence
Letting go of control as our children develop their own relationships with Christ
The difference between knowing about Jesus and actually knowing Him
Sharing faith online with both courage and compassion
Being willing to stop and act when the Spirit nudges us
Why motherhood and influence inside the home matter so much
Remembering that you don't need a platform to make a difference
A few words we're still thinking about:
“Your life is the gospel message.”
“Control is an illusion.”
And this one really sums up the heart of our entire month on influence:
“True power used well, as Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ do, is the ability to influence others for good.”
This week's Becoming Invitation: Influence One
Choose one person this week.
Prayerfully ask God to help you see how you can influence that person for good. Maybe it's a text, an invitation, an act of service, sharing something you believe, or simply stopping long enough to really listen.
It doesn't have to be big.
You may never even know the impact it has.
Just be willing to make Him known, one person and one ordinary moment at a time.
