Green gram - 1 cup White rice - ½ cup 2hrs soak Potato - 1 Onion - ½ of 1 Green chilly - to taste Baking powder - ½ tsp Grated coconut - as per taste Kalonji seeds - to taste (optional) Salt - to taste CHUTNEY Coriander leaves - a bunch Tamarind - 2-3 small pieces or as per taste Green chili - 2 or as per taste Ginger - 1 small piece Garlic - 2 cloves Pottu kadala - 4 tbsp Water Hi everyone, today let’s make an easy and healthy snack using green gram.. Firstly, soak a cup of green gram in water until it turns soft and soak half cup of white rice in water for around two hours. Next, add the soaked green gram and soaked rice into the mixer grinder and grind it into a smooth paste by adding the green gram and rice in batches and very little water to grind and grind it into a smooth paste. Keep in mind that the paste won’t be smooth if you add a lot of water while grinding. Add as little amount of water as possible. Once the paste is ground and smooth, transfer it into a bowl and season it with some salt and add half a teaspoon of baking powder to it and mix really well. Next, add some grated coconut to taste and finely chop in half of an onion and a few green chilies to taste. Next, you may also add some kalonji seeds if you like its taste. Next, freshly grate in one medium-sized potato into the mixture and mix everything really well and combine. After the batter is ready, transfer it into a greased steel plate and steam it until it’s cooked through. This will take only around 12 to 15 minutes to cook through fully after it starts to steam.. you can insert a toothpick into the centre of it and see if it comes out clean to see if it’s fully cooked. Once it’s fully cooked, remove it from the steamer and let it completely cool down before cutting it into smaller pieces. You may cut them as you wish. After cutting them into pieces, I am going to shallow fry these in some oil in a pan until they develop a crispy coating on the outside.. This step is completely optional, but gives it a better taste and crunchy texture. Once it’s crisp on the outside, you can remove it from the pan and it’s ready to be served. I am also going to make a coriander chutney to go with the snack. To prepare chutney, into the mixer grinder, add a bunch of coriander leaves along with 2 to 3 small pieces of tamarind, some green chilies to taste, a small piece of ginger, two cloves of garlic and 4 tablespoons of pottu kadala. Add a little water as required and grind it into a smooth chutney and serve it with the snack..
