Srinivasamurthy (Seenu) hails from a musical family. His father Sri C. S. Nagaraj is a renowned flautist, as was his grandfather Sri C. T. Srinivasamurthy. He began his musical training at an early age under the guidance of his family guru. Subsequently, he had the honor and good fortune of becoming a disciple of Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman. Seenu had the unique opportunity to live with the maestro and his family for over four years. He has performed widely and received numerous awards, including the Vani Kala Nipuna from Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha in 2017. He is also an Asthana Vidwan of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. Seenu considers himself very fortunate to have received the gift of the Lalgudi Bani, bestowed upon him directly by his guru. Now his daughter and disciple, Kumari C. S. Chinmayi, is inheriting that cherished tradition from him. A budding performer, she began her musical journey with the blessings of Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman. Having lived with Lalgudi family for several years, Seenu has a wealth of interesting memories. Many a walk in the park with his guru early in the morning became a quick lesson in kalpana swarams. But his favorite recollection involves the concert at his wedding reception. Although Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman had often performed at his students' weddings as a way of conferring his blessings upon the newlyweds, this time he was ailing and unsure if he could. Therefore, he suggested that Sri Lalgudi G.J.R. Krishnan and Smt. Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi perform at the reception. But sensing his disciple's unspoken longing, he decided that he would perform at least a few songs himself. Once on stage however, he did perform for the entire concert, leaving his disciple with an unforgettable memory.
