Episode 5 of building a small bushcraft survival camp in a conifer forest with basic hand tools. Since the last episode in this series, there have been three or four heavy wind storms. Many trees down and two coming down very close to the shelter. Luckily no damage but some clearing was needed. This episode sees diagonal brace framing added to the shelter sides. My idea here is to create a slotting into which logs can be placed and held vertically thereby creating the log sidewalls. As an added bonus this diagonal brace framing massively restricts the forward and backward movement of the shelter which gives added structural strength to the shelter. The framing was completed using half planks split from small logs and dowel joints created with a new bushcraft hand auger I recently got. My objective to complete the camp using no cordage is still on track. Enjoy. Thanks to everyone who supports the channel with views likes, comments, and subs.
