Shivakumar has raised serious concerns over the alleged misuse of the SIR process and Form 7 applications to seek deletion of names from the electoral rolls. He has alleged that genuine voters, including minorities and Dalits, are being targeted through bulk deletion requests and has called for close scrutiny of such applications. Reports have also highlighted wider concerns in Karnataka over large-scale Form 7 deletion applications during the ongoing electoral roll revision. The Indian Express Shivakumar has urged Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Deputy Commissioners and election officials to take complaints regarding suspected misuse seriously and ensure that genuine voters are not removed without proper verification. He has also said the matter will be taken up with the Election Commission and sought a detailed investigation, including examination of possible criminal wrongdoing, into alleged manipulation of the voter-deletion process.
