A 4K evening walk around Nagoya Castle in Nagoya, Japan — from the last daylight into the night, when the castle is lit up. Recorded with the real sound of the place. Short English captions appear on screen now and then. Filmed October 1, 2026 Living in Nagoya, the castle always feels close by — so close that I rarely take the time to visit. This time I heard the Nagoya Castle Nighttime Illumination was on, and I wanted to see the castle in a different light. The walk starts at Kinshachi Yokocho, the dining street next to the castle, and a water fountain topped with a golden shachihoko. Through the main gate, past the Seinan-sumi and Tonan-sumi turrets and the main keep, it goes inside the Honmaru Palace, full of gold, all the way to the Joraku-den, the hall built for the shogun. Then it is back outside as the sun goes down, around the moat and into the night: the castle lit up in changing colors, lights across the courtyard, and patterns projected onto the stone walls and a turret. It ends back at Kinshachi Yokocho and Nagoyajo Station. The main keep has been closed to visitors since May 2018 for earthquake safety, so you only see it from the outside. On the day of filming, admission went up from 500 to 1,000 yen. This autumn's illumination is called "Nagoya Castle Nighttime Light-Up — Be GOLD". It runs September 19 – October 4 and October 18 – 24, 2026. In the video you can see two of its programs: Gold Interaction, the lasers and projections around the main keep, and Time Layer, a path of light along the turrets and stone walls. No narration. ▶ Chapters 0:00 Highlights 0:24 Nagoya Castle on an autumn evening 2:14 A short history of Nagoya Castle 4:20 The stone walls 4:48 Kinshachi Yokocho, a dining street by the castle 6:14 A water fountain topped with a golden shachihoko 8:27 The main gate 9:23 Admission: 500 yen until yesterday, 1,000 yen from today 10:31 Seinan-sumi Yagura, the southwest turret 11:09 The main keep and its golden shachihoko 12:21 Tonan-sumi Yagura, the southeast turret 13:46 Honmaru Palace 15:14 Inside the Honmaru Palace 16:54 Gold everywhere 20:19 A family crest on the ceiling 20:43 Ranma, carved panels above the doors 21:17 Joraku-den, the hall built for the shogun 28:00 Back outside as the sun goes down 28:30 The main keep at sunset 31:30 Along the moat 33:00 The main keep from below the stone walls 34:00 A gate lit up at dusk 35:00 The castle lit up for the night 36:30 Gold Interaction: Colored lights across the courtyard 38:30 The main keep in green light 43:30 Time Layer: Projections on the stone walls 46:00 Patterns projected on a turret 47:30 A path lit with lanterns 49:00 Leaving the castle grounds 50:39 Kinshachi Yokocho again, at night 52:05 One more Nagoya water fountain 52:27 Night has fallen Meijo Park, just north of the castle, on the way to IG Arena Nagoya:    • Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 | Meijo Koen...   ▶ Good for ・Quiet evening sound for work, study or sleep ・Seeing Nagoya Castle and the Honmaru Palace before you visit ・Seeing the castle lit up at night ・Virtual travel to Japan ▶ About this walk Route : Kinshachi Yokocho → Main Gate → Honmaru Palace → main keep → night illumination → Kinshachi Yokocho → Nagoyajo Station Weather : Clear Time : Evening into night Length : About 53 minutes Video : 4K / 30fps / English captions / no narration Subscribe for a new Nagoya walk    / @thenagoyawalkingshow   ▶ Playlists Nagoya Night Walks    • Nagoya Night Walks   Nagoya Station Walks    • Nagoya Station Walks   Sakae Walks    • Sakae Walks   Osu Walks    • Osu Walks   Rainy Nagoya    • Rainy Nagoya   Asian Games Venues    • Asian Games Venues   Day Trips from Nagoya    • Day Trips from Nagoya   Nagoya Port Walks    • Nagoya Port Walks   #nagoya #nagoyacastle #japanwalk #4kwalk #nightwalk
