Are Chow Chows Difficult to Train? The Truth About the "Stubborn" Chow Chow

Are Chow Chows difficult to train? Chow Chows are often described as stubborn, independent, or difficult to train. But being independent does not mean being unintelligent or untrainable. The real question is what happens between a Chow Chow understanding what you ask and deciding whether to cooperate. In this episode of Before You Choose a Chow Chow, we look at how Chow Chows learn, why consistency matters, how trust develops, and why training an independent dog sometimes means learning when to insist - and when to let go. We also look at something many owners overlook: how your own circumstances, stress and changes in the household can affect the way your Chow behaves. Before you choose a Chow Chow, ask yourself: Do you have the circumstances? Are you willing to commit? Are you willing to train differently - including yourself? Because the goal is not to remove a Chow Chow's independent mind. It is to build a relationship in which that mind chooses to cooperate.
