I Wonder What's Become Of Joe? - Golden Gate Orchestra (California Ramblers), Hot Jazz! 1926

Here's a really hot number (and a personal favorite) performed by the flawless California Ramblers. As it is usual on Edison Records, they are under the name of the Golden Gate Orchestra. This arrangement follows a really jazzy structure, in which mostly every member of the band plays a hot solo. It is one heck of a record, and I'm glad I can finally share it with you! The band also recorded similar versions for Pathé and Columbia, both featuring Arthur Fields on vocals. It is essentially the same arrangement but with less solos. Anyhow, the 3 versions are great! The personnel: Roy Johnston, trumpet Abe Lincoln, trombone Bobby Davis, clarinet, alto sax, soprano sax Elmer "Buddy" Drown, tenor sax Adrian Rollini, bass sax Jack Russin, piano Tommy Felline, banjo Herb Weil, drums, kazoo Recorded 5/11/1926, NY.
