SEAHAWKS MOCKED TO PICK WILL HELDT AT 25 — IS THAT NUMBER EVEN REAL YET? SEAHAWKS NEWS

A mock draft projects the Seattle Seahawks taking Clemson edge rusher Will Heldt with the 25th overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, to eventually replace DeMarcus Lawrence, who has confirmed he'll retire after this season. But that pick number cannot exist yet: the NFL sets next year's draft order through the reverse order of final regular-season standings, with strength-of-schedule and conference tiebreakers deciding ties, and Seattle is only four games into a seventeen-game season. Heldt's own tape is real — 7.5 sacks in 13 games as a junior, 4 sacks in 5 games this year, after transferring from Purdue to Clemson — and three edge rushers (Colin Simmons, Dylan Stewart, Yhonzae Pierre) are currently ranked ahead of him in the same class. This video explains why the specific slot being reported is a guess, not a fact, and what Seattle's real rotation need looks like right now.
