South Shore Line Streetrunning

Tucked away in northern Indiana is a throwback to early days of interurban transportation. Running down the middle of 11th Street and 10th Street in Michigan City, IN is the South Shore Line providing service from Chicago to South Bend, Indiana. Work has just recently began to remove the tracks from the street as well as adding a second track through here to increase capacity. I made my way up in late May 2021 to see this now rare operation before it was gone for good. Unfortunately during my visit the only trains running down the street were rush hour services so trains were limited.
