This year our approach towards self sufficiency has been quite different. Our children are getting older, and that has opened up a lot more possibilities for us as a family. We have been able to spend much more time outdoors together — especially foraging. We have picked far more berries and wild food than in previous years, simply because so much food grows where we go with the children. That has become a bigger part of how we spend our time: growing food in the garden, gathering what we can from nature, and letting the seasons decide what we work with. Some crops need constant attention. Others, thankfully, seem perfectly happy to be ignored for weeks. Potatoes, broad beans and pumpkins are very much in that second category — and they remain some of our most important harvests. If you're trying to live a more sustainable, self-sufficient life while balancing work, children and everyday life this video and channel is for you. And apparently, having children old enough to forage just means there are now more people competing with you for the best berries 😊 00:00 Intro 04:43 Mushrooms in winter 05:42 First Rhubarb Harvest 08:06 Mythical strawberries and currants 10:50 Broad beans 15:01 Elderflower harvest 17:04 Neighbor Chokeberries 19:22 Rosehips at the ocean 21:51 Vegetable abundance 23:43 Growing with the family #Foraging #SelfSufficiency #sustainableliving #VegetableGarden #GrowingFood #slowliving #WoolAndWeeds Music from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/greenhouse/the-h...
