Thimi Biska Jatra, or Sindoor Jatra, is a vibrant 3-day Newari festival celebrated in Madhyapur Thimi, Bhaktapur, starting on April 14th (Baishakh 1st) to welcome spring and the solar new year. The festival is renowned for the Sindoor Jatra (vermilion powder festival) on the 2nd day, where devotees carry 32 chariots (khats) of deities around the Balkumari Temple, throwing orange powder amidst music and dancing.
