After Losing My Job, I Returned to My Family’s Garden | Rural Vietnam

Two weeks after losing my job, I returned to my family’s garden in rural Ninh Binh, Vietnam. After several rainy days, weeds had grown thick around our peanut plants. As I worked quietly in the fresh air, I began to think differently about this unexpected change in my life. Perhaps when something ends, it creates space for something new to grow. After working in the garden, I prepared a simple family meal with eggs from our chickens, sweet potato greens from the garden, and roasted peanuts with sesame seeds.
