Lil Durk Found NOT GUILTY… Did Akademiks Actually Help?

Lil Durk was acquitted in his first federal murder-for-hire trial—but did his interview with DJ Akademiks actually help his defense? The verdict also didn’t mean he was released: separate charges kept him in custody. [Verdict reporting: Pitchfork](https://pitchfork.com/story/lil-durk-...) In this Rapline News breakdown, we follow the timeline, examine the disputed Off the Record interview, and look at why the surrounding conversation matters. We also cover Akademiks’ response, the arguments over what Durk meant, and what the verdict can—and cannot—tell us about the interview’s impact. The story includes King Von, Quando Rondo, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson, OTF Jam, OTF Vonnie, and defense attorney Brian Steel. We separate the reported courtroom developments from the online reactions and theories. We also explain the September 18 report that Durk’s next trial had been delayed and a bond hearing was scheduled for November 4. Those dates reflect reporting available when this video was produced.
