In premium furniture, playing safe can be the fastest way to become invisible. As markets slow and brands reduce risk, products and communication can start to look increasingly similar. The challenge is not simply to follow demand, but to decide what should remain distinctive. In The Global Furnishing Playbook, Antonio Brusca talks with Roberto Archetti, CEO of District Eight Europe and former Brand Director at Poltrona Frau, about how brand identity, distribution and customer behavior are changing in furniture. Discovery is increasingly digital, while evaluation and purchase remain strongly physical. A customer may encounter a product online long before entering a showroom, but a screen cannot reproduce the touch of leather, the weight of a material or the comfort of a chair. Digital therefore has a different job: make value visible before the physical experience begins and help brands understand where demand is forming. The conversation also moves across borders. Taking an established European design brand abroad is not the same as bringing an Asian premium brand into Europe, where country-of-origin perceptions and distribution can shape market entry. Roberto also reflects on the designers who influenced his career and on the legacy of Franco Moschini: brands are built by people who share a direction, not by individuals acting alone. No formula. A conversation about premium furniture, brand identity, digital discovery, distribution and what it takes to stay distinctive across markets.
