I made about $40 million in the apartment business. Then I spent a lot of it on things I thought would make my life better.
A 20,000-square-foot mansion I bought from Dwight Howard. Two McLarens. A Lamborghini. Boats. A yacht. A $3.5 million ranch. And looking back, I wouldn’t buy most of it again.
In this video, I break down some of the dumbest purchases I made after becoming wealthy, what they actually cost to own, and why the purchase price is often just the beginning.
A $4.4 million mansion sounds great until you’re maintaining 16 toilets, dozens of appliances, multiple AC systems, and paying staff just to keep everything running. At one point, I was quoted more than $400,000 for AC work alone.
Making money gave me the ability to buy almost anything I wanted. It also taught me that being able to afford something doesn’t mean it will make your life better.
These are the expensive lessons I learned about money, lifestyle inflation, and figuring out what actually matters.
