Sequoyah National Golf Club

Another Sage effort, this course is based in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. It's a short course at about 6,400 yards with a par of 72, and plays even shorter when you consider some of the most dramatic elevation changes I've seen in Links (my second shot into one par 5 was less than 100 yards.) The rough immediately adjacent to the fairways is not particularly troublesome, but if you drift into the deeper stuff, or even worse into the woods, you could be in for an adventure. I could see that the greens could also offer their own brand of torture and imagine that there are some pins that would be virtually unplayable. I shot a 63 (-9) because my game was on. I combined aggressive and conservative play fairly well, but I could also see a much higher score if I was off a bit more. Nonetheless, I place this course high in my fun to play category.
