📖 Story
A great house has fallen, and only its last daughter remains.
Among the broken pillars of a moonlit palace, she keeps her lonely watch.
Once there were banners and lamplight, and a father's steady voice.
Grief grew sharp, and from that grief a dark power rose against the sky.
Yet on this night the wrath grows quiet, and what is left is only mourning —
a long, tender farewell to a father, and to a world that could not last.
At the end, a song of repose lays the old sorrow gently down to rest.
Wordless, ethereal voices carry this elegy of a ruined court through the night.

📜 About this episode
Takiyasha-hime is the legendary daughter of Taira no Masakado, the Heian-era warrior whose rebellion ended in defeat. In the old tales, the surviving princess — consumed by grief and resentment — receives sorcerous power and raises a final stand at the ruined palace of Sōma in Shimōsa Province, a scene immortalized in Utagawa Kuniyoshi's famous woodblock print of a colossal skeleton. Some accounts say she perished following her father; others say she laid down her wrath and entered a hermitage to live out her days in quiet devotion (the nun Nyozō-ni). Retold for centuries in kabuki and illustrated novels, hers is one of Japan's great legends of a fallen house. This work renders that single night not as vengeance, but as a daughter's mourning and the long letting-go of sorrow, through wordless ethereal vocals and Celtic chamber music.
