In the summer of 1923, the Three Flags run became a motorcycle record war. The challenge: ride roughly 1,700 miles from the Canadian border at Blaine, Washington, down the Pacific Coast to Tijuana, Mexico, as fast as humanly possible through mountains, fog, desert heat, and the dark. Paul Remaly rode a 37-cubic-inch Indian Scout. Wells Bennett rode a four-cylinder Henderson Deluxe. Month after month, from May to August 1923, they traded the Canada-to-Mexico record back and forth, cutting hours off times that once took days. And Bennett's chase for speed came at a price: he was arrested in Los Angeles during one record attempt and spent hours in a Madera County jail on another. This is the forgotten story of Indian vs Henderson, the classic Three Flags run, and two riders who turned 1920s gravel highways into a race against the clock. From Cannonball Baker's original 1915 ride to the last official record, it's a true chapter of vintage American motorcycle history. Which rider would you have bet on the little Indian Scout or the Henderson Four? Tell us in the comments. #IndianMotorcycle #Henderson #MotorcycleHistory
