Buses in Cork | August 2026

A video showing buses in Cork city (County Cork), recorded in August 2026. Cork is a city in the south of Ireland, and the third largest on the island of Ireland. It has been nearly a year since the last visit to the city [   • Cork Buses | September 2025  ], and their have been a few changes to the bus network in that time. Just before this visit to Cork, a new bus depot opened at Tivoli, with the bus fleet split between there and the older garage at Capwell. This has resulted in changes to bus allocations on routes. For example route 226 to Kinsale is now operated by the VWD Class, while route 248 has gone over to the VWL Class. One big change in the last year has been the reduction in use of the MC Class, with most members now in Drogheda and Dundalk. The only MC recorded in this video was on route 225L in Carrigaline. The Transport for Ireland (TFI) green / yellow livery is still being rolled out in Cork, though at a slower pace than in other parts of the country. The VWD 400s are still getting painted, but the single-door VWDs have also started now getting the new livery. The VWDs dominate the city services now, with the former-Limerick PADs on cross-city (and beyond) route 220. Two of the older SP Class buses appear on Expressway route 40, and SE 6 also makes appearance in this video. This is one of the few lower numbered SEs to remain in the Bus Eireann fleet. This video was recorded over three days around Cork city, as well as in the villages of Carrigaline and Douglas.
