UBS Parade Spectacular Returns

Watch more and discuss: http://stamford.itsrelevant.com/conte... Giant helium balloons will be soaring over downtown Stamford for another year in the 2013 UBS Parade Spectacular. Plex from 'Yo Gabba Gabba!', one of four new parade balloons this year, was revealed at a press conference Thursday along with other details. "This parade is a joy to produce and I hope that everyone who comes to see it have as much fun watching it as we at the DSSD have in putting it on," says Sandy Goldstein, President of the Stamford DSSD. "The community involvement here, the engagement that we get from the thousands of employees that live and work in this amazing place is unbelievable and it's really inspiring," says Lori Feinsilver of UBS. The parade will feature 16 giant balloons, floats, award-winning bands, and former NBA all-star Allan Houston as the Grand Marshal. Each year, the event brings more than 200,000 people to downtown Stamford and Goldstein says the event does more than just entertain. "There is a major, major economic impact," Goldstein says. "Two and a half million dollars is spent here by those people who come to the parade." "It has become a signature event for Stamford that everyone is proud of and you see the kids gazing up at the balloons, I mean we have a humanistic side as well as an economic development side," says Stamford's mayor elect David Martin. The fun starts with a balloon inflation party on Saturday, November 23, where spectators can watch the giant balloons come to life.
