Balloons Grounded for UBS Parade Spectacular

" Stamford's UBS Parade Spectacular kicked off Sunday, but without the main attraction. The parade's giant helium balloons could not take flight, because of strong winds. "Wind is very dangerous so we had to take care of all of our patrons and say no balloons this year," says Sandy Goldstein, president of the Stamford Downtown Special Services District. "But that's ok, there were bands, there were dance troops, there were son many wonderful things. I hope everyone had fun." Although disappointed to see the skies empty Sunday, parade goers say they still did have fun. Many of them say it was worth braving the cold to see the parade, even without the balloons. Patrons say while the balloons are great, there are other, more important reasons that bring them to the parade, like family bonding and community togetherness. Produced By: Samantha Mckelvie
