#WhatIf #Animation #BarelyNormal What if your nose was 10,000 times stronger? Normal people have about six million smell receptors — you suddenly have up to three hundred million. You know what's for breakfast two floors down, which classmate is terrified, and that your mom isn't fine… until the night you smell something nobody else in the building can. 00:00 Tomorrow's milk 00:45 The rule 01:09 The world gets loud 01:55 Mrs. Dalton, "Smoke Alarm" 02:28 The blind tasting 03:36 Smelling people 04:30 The live final 06:04 Follow the trail 08:24 Is any of this real? 09:20 What do you think? Tell me in the comments. ----- Science notes: Dogs have up to ~300 million smell receptors vs ~6 million in humans; their noses are estimated 10,000–100,000x more sensitive (PBS NOVA). Natural gas is odorless — a rotten-egg-smelling odorant (mercaptan) is added so leaks can be noticed. If you smell gas: don't touch switches, get out, then call your gas company or emergency services. Some people can detect geosmin, the earthy "rain smell" chemical, at about 5 parts per trillion (Smithsonian). #whatif #animation #senseofsmell
