Stepping away from the main roads to find the quiet heart of Southwest Norway.
In this video, we bypass the highway and take the scenic, rural route starting in Ålgård. Our journey climbs toward Undheim, where the landscape opens up into the high, exposed plains characteristic of the region. As an architectural photographer, I’m always drawn to this stretch—the way the ancient stone walls cut through the terrain creates a natural geometry you won't find anywhere else.
From the heights of Undheim, we descend into the rugged, prehistoric-looking landscape of Bjerkreim. This is "The End of the Road" territory, where the houses get smaller, the mountains get steeper, and the silence is absolute.
The Route Highlights:
The High Plains: Crossing the "roof of Jæren" near Undheim.
Agricultural Geometry: The precision of the traditional stone walls and farm layouts.
The Descent: Winding roads leading into the narrow valleys of Bjerkreim.
Rural Stillness: Capturing the architecture of isolated farmsteads.
Location: Gjesdal, Time, and Bjerkreim Municipalities, Rogaland.
Vibe: Minimalist, cinematic, and calm.
