🌱 SUPPORT DIAKA'S CAUSE
Diáka's fight goes far beyond this film. Together we founded Wings & Roots e.V., a Sierra Leonean-German partnership working to end FGM/C, keep girls in school, and share positive stories of change, led by the communities themselves: https://wings-and-roots.org
🎬 Award-winning feature documentary · Extended Cut with the never-before-shown Nigeria chapter.
THE FILM
Human rights activist Diáka Salena Koroma (Sierra Leone) and Spanish ethnologist Joan Riera travel across four African countries (South Sudan, Angola, Cameroon and Nigeria) to communities living between centuries-old traditions and a rapidly changing world: the Lotuko, whose 500-year-old villages deserve World Heritage status, and the Larim of the Mboya Valley. The last 250 Cuepe and the hidden Ngendelengo in Angola's remote south. The Baka in Cameroon's rainforest and the Dupa of the Vokre Mountains. The Yoruba, the Aguda and the Nupe in Nigeria.
Between tribal conflict, colonial legacy and the climate crisis, the film gives a voice to people who are rarely heard, and follows Diáka's own journey back to cultural roots that slavery and colonization tried to erase.
WHY FREE?
This film exists because people in some of the most remote regions on earth opened their villages, homes and lives to us. We want everyone to be able to watch it, above all the communities who are part of it. No paywall, no ads, no borders.
