Another Day in Batumi, Post-Soviet Blocks, 19th-Century Streets ☁️

Another day in Batumi. Typical post-Soviet modernist blocks, the same accommodation style you find everywhere in the old Soviet bloc. This is the center of Batumi according to Google Maps. It is what it is. One casket building with a balcony on every apartment stands out. Petting a fierce cat on the way. First fierce cat of the day. Then the main cathedral, small garden around it, drinkable water tap, Harry Potter storage room under the stairs. Double wedding happening inside, young couples walking around the altar three times, Georgian ceremony. Nice church, don't want to disturb, walked around and out. Old train station that is now a TBC Bank, once the communication center of 19th-century Batumi. From here a road that used to be one of the main streets in the city, still full of old buildings, some 19th century, maybe older. Big old trees they never cut down, love that. Wood mixed with bricks under iron plates for humidity, same trick I saw in Portugal, still fungus everywhere but that's the idea. Prices for fruit in the old part are double what I pay where I live (2-3 gel per kilo of grapes there, 8 here), but the streets are wider and the trees are old.
