Bibbulmun Track - day 44

Day 44 - William Bay to Boat Harbor September 16, 2025 Left the hut around 7:30, not really hurrying because low tide for the Parry inlet crossing is at 5pm. Nice little hike and a long beach walk to the inlet, got there around 10am. Tried the crossing... feels a bit dangerous so did not complete it after trying without the pack. Wasted some time having snacks and taking photos, then tried again about 11:30. Managed the crossing, so dropped off my pack and went back across to take Mim's pack and lead her across. Another beach walk later we got to Parry's Beach Campground, which is free and run by volunteers. While washing the sand off said volunteers offered us tea and biscuits (vegan!) which we took them up on, and chatted to them. All very pleasant, lovely people. Onwards after tea, we hiked across and up immense sand hills, with dense coastal scrub, eventually crossing the ridge to the other side of the peninsula. Lunch on the way and a lovely hike in the afternoon somewhat marred by intermittent rain which seemed a lot more than the forecast 0 - 1 mm, but really that sums up our experience of the Bibbulmun: more rain than expected. Many stairs took us to another beach walk with some rough looking seas driven by the storm, then up and around to a second shorter beach walk in a sheltered bay. A short time later we arrived at the hut, Rhea already there having stayed at the free Parry's Beach campground last night.
