Hidden away on Chuckanut Bay’s rugged coastline is this scenic boat launch. Larrabee Stare Park is located just south of Bellingham, WA on the Puget Sound. This area is popular for many outdoor recreations; hiking, boating, camping, bicycling and sightseeing. Chuckanut Drive was once the main road to Bellingham, now it barely accommodates the traffic, and is somewhat treacherous. The devotees of local Chuckanut Mountain trails, and the many coastal residents still drive the road. There are some scenic pullouts. I found the views well worth the stop. Tides were high, with not so much beach today. Some locals were frolicking in their crafts in this little cove. Your WA State Discover Pass is required for parking. There is a restroom facility, and there is no access to park trails from here. The main Larrabee State Park entry is just south. It is recommended you bring cash for watercraft launch fees. Folks were just stopping for the views, some braved a swim, others moved on to park trails to enjoy the sunset. The bumblebees were working the flowering thistle. ☺️🪶🐝
