Kasur to Bahawalpur on 38DN Fareed Express | A Journey Through Rural Punjab

Hello everyone, Today I am here with a very calm and relaxing train journey through one of the most interesting branch line routes of Pakistan Railways. This time, instead of starting from Lahore, I began my journey from Kasur Junction and traveled all the way to Bahawalpur on 38DN Fareed Express. The main attraction of this journey was the beautiful branch line stretch through Kasur, Pakpattan and Lodhran, where the train slowly passes through green fields, small towns and peaceful countryside. My morning at Kasur Junction was already special. Despite it being August, the station was covered in a light morning fog, giving everything a completely different feel. I spent some time exploring the station, checking out the food stalls and even looking at some abandoned railway coaches while waiting for Fareed Express. Before boarding, I enjoyed a simple homemade breakfast sitting on the cement blocks on the platform. The food was made by my mother, which somehow made that ordinary railway breakfast feel even more special. Soon, 38DN Fareed Express arrived from Lahore and Raiwind. I boarded the AC Standard coach and the journey began. As the train left Kasur behind, the busy city slowly disappeared and beautiful green fields took over. We passed through Khudian Khas, Kanganpur, Mandi Ahmadabad and Basirpur before reaching Pakpattan, where the train had a longer 20-minute stop. The peaceful branch line journey continued through Arifwala, Burewala, Mailsi and Kahror Pakka. At Mailsi, I couldn't resist trying a fresh naan pakora from a local vendor's cart, another small but memorable part of the journey. By afternoon, we finally reached Lodhran Junction, where this beautiful branch line journey came to an end. From there, Fareed Express joined Mainline-1 and crossed the Sutlej River before reaching Bahawalpur, where I finished my journey. There was nothing particularly dramatic about this trip, and perhaps that is exactly what made it so enjoyable. Just a slow train, peaceful countryside, small stations, local food and the simple beauty of traveling through Punjab. Sometimes, the most memorable journeys are the ones where nothing extraordinary happens.
