We head out onto the waters of Seward, Alaska for an epic halibut fishing adventure! First, we jig for fresh herring bait using sabiki rigs, then run into deeper water in search of barn-door halibut. Along the way, we hook into lingcod, battle a hard-fighting 50–60 lb halibut, and encounter incredible Alaskan wildlife, including humpback whales bubble-net feeding!
After getting off the water, we head into the kitchen for an authentic catch-and-cook. Jake shares the restaurant-quality secret fried halibut recipe he learned while growing up at his family’s restaurant in Ninilchik—including both traditional and gluten-free panko options, tips on slicing against the grain, proper oil temps, and meal-prep freezing tricks.
