Continuing with the Peugeot 306 MAXI challenges in Assetto Corsa Rally v0.6, this time taking on the Single Stage Race Test at Vallée de Munster Descente.
The run started very well.
The pace was strong, the car felt good, and everything was going according to plan.
Then, near the end of Sector 2, things almost went completely wrong.
🇫🇷 Peugeot 306 MAXI - Strong Start
The opening part of the stage felt very good.
The 306 MAXI is a car that rewards commitment, and through the first sectors I was able to push with confidence and build a solid run.
The front-wheel-drive layout gives it a very distinctive character, especially when carrying speed into corners and trying to keep momentum through the stage.
For most of the opening section, everything was working well.
😬 Sector 2 - Almost Over the Edge
Near the end of Sector 2, I went wider than planned and almost ended the run completely.
The car started heading toward the slope, and for a moment it looked like the challenge was over.
Thankfully, I managed to save it and pull the Peugeot back onto the road.
One of those moments where the entire run can disappear in a second.
⚙️ Adrenaline Costs Another Mistake
The save worked, but the adrenaline definitely carried into the next corner.
At the very next hairpin, I missed the gear.
That cost additional time and broke the rhythm I had built earlier in the stage.
Still, the car was intact and the challenge was alive, so the only option was to reset focus and keep pushing.
🌡️ Final Sector - Overheated Front Tires
The final sector introduced another problem.
By that point, the tires had overheated and the available grip had dropped significantly.
That made the last part of the run much trickier than the opening sectors.
With the 306 MAXI being front-wheel drive, losing front grip is especially costly because it immediately affects both steering and traction.
Even with the reduced grip, I managed to keep the car under control and beat the AI opponents for another Gold medal.
🌍 P43 on the World Leaderboard
I also finally found how to properly compare my Race Test Rally Events times against other players on the world leaderboard.
And to my surprise, this run was good enough for P43 in the world.
Considering the near run-off, missed gear and overheated tires, that is a pretty satisfying result.
⚙️ What I Would Change for a Leaderboard Push
If I return to this challenge specifically to chase a better leaderboard position, I would definitely use a custom setup.
The first change would be the front tire compound.
The current tires overheat too much by the final sector, so I would try a harder compound on the front axle to keep temperatures under better control across the full stage.
That should give much more consistent front grip late in the run.
For the medal hunt, though, there is no need to chase it right now.
The Gold is secured.
Time to move on.

🏁 Conclusion
This run had a little bit of everything.
A strong start.
A near disaster at the end of Sector 2.
A big save.
A missed gear immediately afterward.
And then a final sector with overheated tires and very little front grip.
But the challenge was completed.
The AI was beaten.
Another Gold medal was secured.
And despite all the problems, the run still landed P43 on the world leaderboard.
There is definitely more pace available with a cleaner run and a better tire setup.
But for now:
Gold secured.
P43 in the world.
146 Gold medals out of 238 challenges.
The hunt continues.
Never Give Up.
